American students are an important part of Florentine life and an essential part of Florentine night life. With their recent departure last weekend, and probably because of the sudden cold as well, the Florence city centre’s clubs and bars were quite empty these past 5-6 days. An atmosphere almost unnatural for people living in the centre, with streets almost empty, cold temperature, and a city ready to go to sleep much earlier than midnight. But the quiet period is not going to last long: at half January, American students – a community living in the city of about 5000 kids – will become again the owners of Florentine nights. Most of the American Universities and study abroad programs start Jen 29th.
