Pitti Immagine Filati, now in its 56th edition, owes its success to its formula: it is a research and experimental workshop that sets an example of manufacturing strategy for the entire fashion industry. A fair that is avidly monitored by creatives in every industry, Pitti Immagine Filati is the true international leader thanks to years of investments in research and innovation and meticulous quality-screening of its main protagonists.
With its innovative presentations, that are open to diverse interpretations the Pitti Immagine Filati Spazio Ricerca is more of an event than an “illustration” of technical or market research.
This aspect confirms its important role as a place of innovation and research that has always been in vanguard when it comes to proposing styles and trends.
Produced once again – the third time in a row – in cooperation with the Flanders Fashion Institute of Antwerp, the Spazio Ricerca is curated by Angelo Figus, the internationally renowned European designer.

Fashion at Work Fashion at Work will be featuring 42 brands – with 21 from abroad (Great Britain, France, Turkey, Japan).
This is the section dedicated to complementary fields and technological innovations to complete the event with an added offering in terms of creativity and research applied to knitwear.
The new names at Fashion at Work include: Agteks, L.J.M.U. Fashion & Textiles Design Research, Studio Stampa, Whiston & Wright.
The Spazio Ricerca
Terra Aria Acqua Fuoco. Il filo della storia (Earth Air Fire Water – The Strands of History) is the title of the Spazio Ricerca at Pitti Immagine Filati n.
56. It is a journey through the distinctive symbols of the cultures populating the world and their potential interactions which, starting from man, produce a dialogue among graphic and formal stereotypes illustrated by knits/sculptures. The area is coordinated by Angelo Figus with the brilliant support of Nicola Miller, knitwear expert and consultant to some of Italy’s most famous knitting mills, for stitch research and prototype development, and Gruppo A12 which designs the overall setting.
The Spazio Ricerca is located in the Cavaniglia Pavilion at the entrance to the fair.
The events
During the event, the Lineapiù stand will be presenting the installation "Maglieria d'amare": a creative interpretation of the theme of seaside fashion in knits, featuring 20 iron, plaster, wood and yarn creations from a number of contemporary artists.
From 2 to 6 February, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Stazione Leopolda in Florence will once again be hosting Vintage Selection, the open fair featuring strictly vintage clothing, accessories and design objects.
About 30 of the leading Italian and foreign operators in the field of vintage fashion will be offering a wide selection of items filled with ideas and suggestions for members of the trade. The sections Remake and Selected ID dedicated to “renewed” vintage complete the offering.
